Since there is alot of speculation on this matter, and no one can seem to quite grasp the details, I will give a step by step tutorial on how to create a "Material Hunt" and a "Forging Mission" and to go even further, an "Enchanting the Weapon" mission.
First off, You must search the web for a tutorial on how the process of making your desired item is actually done. For this tutorial, I will be making a Dagger.
Okay. First-of-all, I need to find out what materials I need to make a Bronze Dagger.
After a few minutes, of searching Google, I came up with:
Tin
Copper
Tin and Copper need to be 'smelted' together to form the Bronze.
Here goes an example of what I'd start out with:
"Rangavar arranged a trip to the Vespa Mines. There he would mine out some Copper and Tin ore..."
Now hold up a minute! It says in the "Vespa Mines Description" post that there are monsters abroad.
What kind of monsters? Well be imaginative...There in the "Vespa Mine's Description" post should be a list of the monsters. Anywho, either way it'll be a fight.
"Rangavar entered the mines to behold it scattered with corpses of Scarab Raiders and Trolls. Being a main point of traffic, there must be some help below.
Rangavar proceeded into the cave; stepping over the smelly bodies of fallen enemies. As he went deeper, he noticed that some of the corpses were Human, Elven, and even Moragna, whom came from a nearby village to mine here.
Alas, he heard a rumble from within a dark and musty vent leading into a chamber..."
There! Now there's a danger aspect to your Role-Play making the Administrator's long read a little more entertaining.
Now that you have created a LONG and INTERESTING plight to gain these two items of ore you must combine them. A few more minutes on google explains that Smelting is the process in which Ore is refined into a metal which is then combined with the tin to make it stronger. In turn this creates the metal called Bronze.
The process of turning the copper and tin can be futher explained by reading a tutorial. I could make a rp segment on smelting the ore at least 3 paragraphs long.
For example:
"The searing heat of the flames made Rangavar sweat as he watched the ores melt down in the forge. He beat on the red-hot concoction to keep it in the shap of a bar. Small hunks of rock fell from the liquidy metal now as i pick the larger more persistant rocks out..."
Yada yada yada. Basic and descriptive, shouldn't take long to accomplish.
Now what do you do with a bar of Bronze? Draw on it of course! It all begins with solid plan. You want to make a spear head? Cut off a small part of the bar and bang away. Want to make a sword? draw the crosspiece, form the blade shape give an idea of how wide it is how many curves it has. look at an real life example of a knife plan.
Then the Actual Forging. After the brief planning of the roleplay character. its time to get to the bellows, mallet and anvil. I'm sure that all of us know that you need to bang some stuff to make something out of metal. But its really a repetitive process. After long amounts of reading I decide that I should let you figure out this last part instead of leeching ideas and such from me. Creativity and choice of words can make your rp last longer or be shorter. it depends if you want to go back and pick at your rp to satisfy me.
NAW!
I'll give you a short breif REALLY, REALLY short example of what im looking for.
Shearing the Shape: "Rangavar carefully cut along his thick charcoal line being sure to breathe in a regulated pace as not to throw off his shears."
Beating the Shape: " Rangavar heated the blade, it was a thick, and usless knife form as of now. He beat it down forming the center-ridge and working his way out."
Sharpening: " Spinning the Sharpining stone Rangavar pressed his dagger to the wheel of the stone. sparks flew by as the rough stone scraped a keen edge.
Setting into the Hilt: "Rangavar had worked on the wooden hilt as he waited for the shape to cool down. He shifted around the royal forge for some of those fancy nails that the carpenters had been bantering about. He was dissapointed to find none."
END!
